World Suicide Prevention Day
10/09/25, 08:00
This World Suicide Prevention Day, we want to highlight the mental health challenges facing our industry and encourage everyone to speak up, check in on one another, and make it easier to ask for help.
A Hidden Crisis in Construction
The reality is that life in construction can be tough, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Long hours, tight deadlines, job insecurity, and time away from family all add pressure. And in a sector where people often feel they have to ‘just get on with it’, mental health isn’t always easy to talk about.
For self-employed tradespeople or those in smaller firms, finding the right support can sometimes feel even harder. But things are changing. More businesses are taking wellbeing seriously, and more people are opening up, breaking the stigma that has been part of our industry for far too long.
You don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming. Support is out there, and reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. Talking can make all the difference.
This World Suicide Prevention Day, let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s build a culture where looking out for each other is part of everyday working life – and where no one in construction feels they have to struggle alone.
Need to talk?
If you or someone you know is finding things difficult, free and confidential support is available for anyone in the construction community. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, money worries, or just needing someone to listen, help is never far away.
